Beach Frame Of Mind

I saw this framed photo art in a store and I thought this is a great idea I can do for very little money.

Buy a calendar from the dollar store. Get a frame from the same store for a dollar. Only two dollars spent for the entire project.

Find your favorite picture from your calendar and cut it out to fit your frame. Presto! You have almost this exact same type of art for a tiny fraction of the price.

I love going into a store, finding an item I can deconstruct in my mind then go home and make it with items I already have.

Fountain Of Summer Light

Light

Water

Peace

I still remember how relaxed I felt standing in front of this beautiful splashing fountain. As I was walking around downtown and I just happened to stumble across the park where this fountain is located as the sun was going down. One of life's cool moments that just happen. It is so important to just stop and enjoy a moment of peace and savor it.

This picture does not do it any justice. The sun was hitting the water at just the perfect angle. I wish I had this fountain in my backyard.

When you explore, you never know what treasures you will find. Get out in your city and find new things to inspire your life every single day.

Driving Towards Better Times

Love the sun and clouds in this picture.

I feel like I just woke from a very deep up to a new chapter in my life and I have hit the ground running as fast as I can.

Life is what you make it.

Time is passing by faster and faster as the years go by. if you wait around for things to get better by themselves, there is a huge chance things will get worse. Take action and make changes for the better in your life.

Starting a new job and learning new skills has brought me face to face with the fact that you can either make your life very small or very big. It is always your choice.

Do something everyday to move forward towards your dreams.

Take calculated smart wisdom guided risks. If you do not try you will never ever know what the outcome could have been. I am learning to have the courage to not think about what others think of me and just live my life.

Live your life to the absolute fullest.

I had the BEST summer this year EVER because I went to places I never been before and made the effort to break out of my shell. Being shy will make you have a boring lonely sad life.

Life is too precious to live it isolated because of fear. Fear will stop you from becoming the incredible human being you are supposed to be.

Get out of your comfort zone and LIVE!

Clouds In The Sky

I often take pictures of the sky because there is so much inspiration to be found up there.

This photo was taken as the sun was setting. The play of soft colors against the pale blue sky is so peaceful and meditative.

Looking at the clouds in the sky makes me aware of all the different ways to see life or view a piece of art. It is all open to individual interpretation.

Blue skies give my heart and soul a lift of energy and joy.

Gray skies make me sad sometimes but I  remind myself that there will be blue skies just around the corner.

As with the situations of life, the clouds and skies are always changing.  Just hold on to hope because good days and blue skies are coming.

DVD Thoughts - Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome

Wow. I have not watched this movie in many years. I was shocked at how many scenes I still remembered. This time the film had a different effect on me today then when I watched in the past. I had to really face the fact that world wide nuclear destruction could really happen. 9/11 had not happened when I watched this way back when.

Looking at the devastated buildings of the city skyline reminded me too much of 9/11 and war torn countries in the news today. Of course not on such a huge scale as the movie but it is a sobering thought that we really have to think about terrorists attacks.

On a more positive note, I had forgotten just how handsome the young Mel Gibson was back in the day. I love the Mad Max character. He did not ever give up. Mad Max was determined to survive. It must be true that only the strong will survive.

It would have been so easy to just give up and go crazy after surviving such a horrible event in world history but the human race pushed forward and adapted to be able to live the best way they could.

After I watched the movie, I thought about how good most people in the world have it in their day to day lives. We take so much for granted: clean water, food, shelter, access to medical care, electricity, and law enforcement. If you think about it, their are countries in which the people live a life that closely resembles the world of Mad Max. Two men enter, One man leaves. I am so glad this is NOT the way disagreements are settled.

Lastly, Tina Turner was so cool to watch on screen. Love strong powerful intelligent female characters. Definitely loved the chain mail dress and those huge hoop earrings.

Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome gave me a lot to think about and even more to be thankful for.

Did You Enjoy Giving Up Today?

I know the title of this post may sound a bit strange but please bare with me for a moment.

There are important tasks or situations you had to take some type of action on today. Did you enjoy giving up and not doing what needed to be done to complete the task or resolve the problem?

Stop and really think about this.

When we choose not to do things, do we do this because it feels better to not do anything because we didn't want to do the task in the first place?

For example, it felt good to put off exercising because you really are not completely committed to changing your lifestyle. It feels good to complain about being overweight but to actually do a simple exercise movement is too much effort.

Procrastination is so commonplace in our lives. At first putting off things give us a false sense of relief. I have more time to do that difficult thing later you think to yourself. When I delay the activity I had scheduled , maybe the situation will have changed and I will not have to actually make the effort and perform the difficult task. Being lazy can be enjoyable.

Fear of the unknown is so powerful. Fear is paralyzing. Fear can block you from moving forward in your life.

We do this so often, it must feel good at times to just "give up" at times in our lives.

Now for the reality check: You can only put off things for a while until eventually they rise up, come back at the worse time possible and bite us in the butt. That brief feeling of euphoria that comes with giving for a moment, can quickly turn on us and become that horrible nasty feeling of stress.

I have been watching a Farscape DVD Marathon. In one episode, the character Ka Dargo was talking about finding the son he had not seen for years and he spoke some words of wisdom. He said something to the effect if he stopped trying it DEFINITELY will not happen.

When you do nothing, nothing is absolutely what you will get. When you stop trying, that's it. Game over. Dreams will definitely never come true when you give up.

Push yourself through the easy safe convenient feeling of giving up. Rethink your strategy. Research the problem. Ask for help. Set a timer to make yourself take all the emotion out of getting the task done. Make the effort. Your dreams and goals are completely worth pushing through the scary feelings of uncertainty.

Is giving up your guilty pleasure?

On the left are the massage chairs. I think you have to paid to turn them on.

Looking into the window at the Arhaus store.

I am a office supply/paper/stationary geek so of course I love browsing in this store.

The decor in Tomato Pie restaurant is so beautiful. This picture does not do it justice.

People waiting patiently at Pantera Bread.

I am a sucker for a well done flower arrangement.

The weather was so warm and sunny the day I visited Raleigh.

Earrings Of The Day - Indian Inspired Brass Star And Moon

Love the simplicity of these lightweight brass metal earrings. The delicate linework in the metal adds such detail and interest to this piece. I have had them for ages - notice the fishhooks clasps are different. LOL! They have been loved very much.

These earrings are in the casual category of my jewelry collection. I would throw these on easily with jeans or shorts and a simple top then head out the door.

Indian jewelry is some of the most beautifully crafted jewelry I have ever seen. Intricately crafted and colorful. My goal is to own as many pieces of Indian and Indian inspired pieces as possible.
