Heart Brigade Concert - Excellent Tribute Band for Heart

 I just happened to be going to the library and saw a concert was happening at Festival Park. As I walked to the stage, I thought I was hearing the inbetween band setup music on the loudspeaker. It was a Heart song. To my complete amazement it was an actual real person singing the Ann Wilson (lead singer for the band Heart) part of the song to perfection.

This band was incredible. It is not very often that I am lucky enough to hear such level of talent from a band that is not a famous label signed artist. Not only did the two women sound exactly like Ann and Nancy Wilson from Heart, they looked very similar to the sisters. The band completely complimented the high level of talent displayed by the singers. When you can get the harmonies exactly right, you are a very good cover band indeed.

I was totally mad at myself for arriving late and missing part of the show. They even threw in some Led Zeppelin songs. Hearing Led Zep performed live by such strong vocalist that could do it justice. Priceless.

 How much did I like this band? The concert I attended was free but I would gladly pay to see Heart Brigade play live again. This is huge for me. I don't spend my precious money to see just any band. Yes, they were THAT good.

Never Waste A Day - My Beautiful Lake Is Gone

These pictures were taken recently in May and in June. This is the BEFORE. Scroll down and you will see what I saw just two weeks ago. Notice closely the beautiful water and the pier.  I was so shocked and surprised what I saw just two weeks ago.

The following are pictures of the AFTER. My beautiful lake was drained to enable construction of a new spillway. It will not be reopened until late 2015. So sad. 

All the water has been drained. Those are shopping carts and a trash can that must have been underwater.

There was about six feet of water in the lake.

I hope the fish and the turtles are OK.

I had not heard anything on the news or seen anything in the newspaper. One day I decided to go visit the lake and it was not there. This was the last thing I could have ever imagined would happen.

 For years, I didn't know the lake existed at all. After discovering the lake, in a nearby park, I was so happy to have a place to go calm my mind and spirit by being by the water.

Never waste a day. Never waste a moment to do what you love or go to a place you love going to. Things change. When I told my brother about the lake being drained and the pier was torn down, he said "It will never be the same." I think he might be right. I hope not. Maybe the lake and pier will be better than ever before. We shall see.

I miss going there already. I miss the interesting people who would go fishing there. Now I am on the hunt for another lake that has easy public access. I am so thankful I took all the pictures and video I did when I could.

It is so strange to think that something so huge as a lake could disappear. But it happened.

Whatever you want to do, go do it. Go do it now. You may be missing the only opportunity you have before it's gone.

Necklace Of The Day - Daisy Chain Choker

Gold tone metal Daisy motif choker necklace

A necklace that gets better with age is always a great addition to my jewelry collection. 

I bought two of these necklaces from Limited Express or The Limited several years ago for a very good sale price of a few dollars. It is a dark toned gold tone necklace made of a slightly heavy metal. Over the years the color has become more burnished. The daisy flowers are very detailed and intricately molded.

 The short length of this necklace resulted in deciding to connect the two necklaces together to make it a longer and easier to wear piece. It's a very simple classic design. Because of the flower design it can be worn in warmer months but it's darker hue makes it nice accent necklace for a crew neck lightweight sweater.

The only downside to wearing the necklace is at a certain point in the day, I start feeling the weight of the metal around my neck. But overall I do prefer to purchase costume jewelry that has a bit of heft to it for a better quality of materials.

Myrtle Beach, SC - I Will Be Seeing You Soon

 Sandy path to the beach. I get a peaceful feeling just looking at this walkway. These are a few pictures I took last year. A weekend trip is coming up soon.

 Sunset at the beach is a light show of color and shadow.There is nothing like watching the sun go down at the beach.

Those tiny dots are little birds running back and forth between the surf and sand. I think about how the birds have no fear of being smashed by the waves. They are able to keep an eye on the waves rolling in while looking quickly for something to eat. Stay focused on getting the most important task done but always be fast and smart enough to stay a step ahead of life's daily problems.

 I had so much fun walking through this sandy path in front the hotels. There are so many huge tall hotels crowded together in a certain area of the beach. So much as changed over recent years. I prefer visiting the beach when it is not crowded with lots of people. 

The beach has always been a is time of meditation, creativity, inspiration and relaxation for me. Soon very soon I will be sitting on the beach watching those gray green waves splashing on the shore with a happy smile on my face.

Reflections On The Water

 The sun was shining so bright and hot this day. It was like the sun reflecting on the surface of a mirror. I think that might be a turtle in the water in the center of the picture. It is hilarious to see their tiny heads peaking up out of the water like miniature loch ness monsters. LOL!

Life gives you what it wants to give you. Whether you want changes to happen or not, things are never going to stay the same. If you do not adapt to a new challenges in life, having a peaceful productive existence is really hard to maintain.

Looking at the rippling waves at the lake this day, I thought about how sometimes in life you just have to "sparkle and flow" through the hard times.

There is nothing the water in the lake can do if a branch falls into it. The lake will have to allow the waves in the water to move the branch to the shore, sink to the bottom to become apart of the lake or be actually removed from the water. Patience and perseverance is the solution.

When something or someone difficult falls into my life, I try to remember to sparkle (be positive) and flow (let the situation move towards a productive result). Being always upset and agitated about every single hardship or annoyance is exhausting. I would rather spend my precious life moment seeking an enlightened solution that spreads positive energy in my life.

One important life goal I have to be like this beautiful glimmering lake water and let life's difficulties just flow across me while I push forward to reach my hopes and dreams.

Happy and Safe Fourth of July To Everyone!

I had a wonderful day spending time with my family. This made me really appreciate how blessed I am to live in the United States and be an American citizen. 

My freedom was not free. Many people died so I can enjoy many freedoms in this country that  lot of people in the world do not have. I will never take this for granted.

I hope everyone had a fantastic day today and enjoyed this important special holiday. 

A huge thank you to everyone who takes the time to read my little blog. I will be making a lot of effort to make the content and appearance better in the future.

What I Am Watching and Reading Lately

 I love this TV series so much. Not only is Timothy Olyphant super sexy, the show is extremely well written.  This is a DVD series I will add to my collection.

 My favorite thing about watching this DVD was the wardrobe but not the writing. But the wardrobe does not have the absolute perfection of real shows and movies from this time period.  I am a film wardrobe geek and I am very picky about how current movies depict wardrobe accurately. At times the wardrobe looked too costumey.

 Honestly, I did not get what all the hype about this show is about.  I wish there was a stronger and longer storyline about black characters during this time in history.

 Awesome describes this DVD. Loved the strong independent lead woman character. Loved the 1920s wardrobe and production design. All the characters were well written and developed. I was surprised by storylines that involved current issues such as abortion and drug addiction. I highly recommend this DVD.

 A lot of time was spent on special effects and not enough time was spent writing a strong script. A smart plane that will replace humans interesting and scary concept.

 There is a big twist you really do not see coming but it does nothing to save this safe you can guess the plot and the ending movie. Go watch Top Gun instead. All this movie did was motivate me to exercise harder to get in shape like Jessica Biel. Not Joking. LOL!

I wanted to like this graphic novel so much but I didn't. Maybe I needed to be a gamer to appreciate the gaming reference in the storyline. Just didn't find the story or the art very interesting.
