Mermaid Standing In The Bright Sunlight

 

These pictures are a much better view of the Mermaid statue I got a little while back from The Christmas Tree Shops in this post.

 

 

 

 

She is a beauty. I think she has a very serene peaceful smile.

 

 

 

Nice details with the shells entwined in her long hair.



 

This is a back view of the pieces. Honestly I am really not a fan of the "distressed" chipped away look. I wish it was a solid white finish.

I got really lucky to walk into The Christmas Tree Shops store and find this gorgeous mermaid. None of the mermaid pieces they had displayed since have been remotely as nice as this one.

 

It was so exciting to add this to my tiny mermaid collection. Usually I never see mermaid things when I am shopping so this was a great find.

Mermaid Standing Statue

A new mermaid statue added to my mermaid collection from the Christmas Tree Shop.  I was completely surprised to see a mermaid anything in a local store.  Usually, I only see mermaid figurines when I go to the beach.

She is a little over a foot high tall. I am so excited to find a mermaid I really like. This mermaid has a beautiful face and the statue has a lot of detail. i think it is made from a kind o resin not a ceramic material. 

The only thing i really did not like is the "distressing" of the surface of the piece. if the paint was smooth, it would be perfect. But thankfully, there is only a few places where the paint is chipped off.

The tail is so beautiful.    I am really picky about the design of my mermaid's facial features and the tails. i do prefer the  mermaid tails to have a fuller wider tail fins.

The only color on the figure is this green and pink on  the clam shell.

I got another wonderful surprise when I got to the register and it was half off. My price was $8.99! Awesome! The prices for this type of statue in Myrtle Beach is 2 or 3 times more than the regular price of this item.

DIY Sea Shells and Sand Display

This is a very quick inexpensive way to bring home a tiny bit of your beach vacation.

All you need is a few shells -ones you have collected from your relaxing walk on the beach or you can buy a bag of shells.

I was browsing around in The Christmas Tree Store and I saw a small net bag full of beautiful small whole shells. Usually the shells I find on the beach are fragments. But I still love the broken shells for their special charm. 

Next you need some sand from the beach and a clear glass jar or bottle to hide your display. 

Pour in your sand. Layer in your shells and presto! Your own beach display for your desk or table top. 

I saw sand and shell displays at the beach for $6.99 and up. You can make this in under ten minutes for free or very little money.

A Mermaid Lit From Within

She is a beautiful mermaid. She is a sculpture. And she is one more thing...

She is a "lamp". According to a sales associate, there is a light inside her tail. 

I discovered this beauty while on a beach vacation in Myrtle Beach, SC. While browsing in the Gay Dolphin Gift Cove, I was on the stairwell,  I looked down into at the center where the water sculptures are featured and there she was.

The piece is a very dark almost black bronze color. Beautiful delicate facial features. The smooth tail is covered in a mosaic consisting of many pieces of light and dark green glass. The gorgeous mermaid tail is one of the most eye catching elements of the sculpture.

After a bit of research, I am sorry to say I don't know the name of the artist or the name of a company that made her. Information about how to contact the Gay Dolphin store will be linked and at the bottom of this post. 

There are two of these mermaids in the store, this one was near the back. The mermaid is about the size of a small child. You would definitely need to have a large open space to display her properly. I was also told she can be displayed outside.

Of course beauty has it's price - $ 899.98. Wow! This is a lot of money. It is a striking piece of art. Maybe someday I will be able to buy it.

This mermaid sculpture is the most beautiful piece of mermaid art of this type I have seen. I get so much inspiration every time I go to the store and see her. 

The Gay Dolphin website does not give you the entire experience of this full to the brim with gifts and souvenirs landmark  store in Myrtle Beach.

I Found A Mermaid!

Every time I go to Myrtle Beach, SC, one of my favorite things to look for when I go shopping is mermaids.

I absolutely love mermaids. They (like the real ones) are very hard to find. Well at least the ones that pass my strict criteria: must be beautiful, graceful, not trashy or skanky and the mermaid  item must fit neatly in my very tiny budget. 

The happy and thoughtful mermaid sign was purchased at the year round Christmas store Christmas Mouse located at Barefoot Landing

in Myrtle Beach, SC.

The price was only $3.75. I was very happy to find a mermaid I really liked for that low price.  

The sign is made for a very thin lightweight wood and painted a pale pink. The mermaid figure is a silhouette in black. The letters are in green. 

This is one of a few items I've gathered to start my mermaid collection.

Sand and Shells

This is my "Whisper from the Sea" - Sand and Shells. For a number of years, I was unable to get a chance visit the beach. This had a huge negative impact on my life. I have a wanderlust. Travel and seeing new places inspires me and refreshes my outlook on life. The beach is my bliss. All my problem fade away when I visit my second home.

Last time I was at the beach, I thought I should take a bit of the beach with me. So thankful I did. The beach is my peace.

It is hard to find mermaid rubber stamps. It was so excited when I was walking through the craft store and suddenly saw this cool stamp. She really beautiful. I have loved mermaids for as long as I can remember. I have been working on a mermaid novel for a while now. Maybe my love of mermaid came about from my love of the ocean. I have enjoyed using this stamp in my art journals. Photos of that art will be posted soon.
