Necklace of the Day - Rhinestone and Three Pearl Flower Choker

This rhinestone and stimulated pearl necklace is a perfect example of how I defy all style or trend rules and wear my "evening or dressy" occasion sparkly jewelry everyday. I do NOT care what people think. Rhinestones are so fun, bright and happy that I don't want to have to wait for the dark of night or a special dress up event to take them out.

If I bought something, I need to use it. When it is just sitting in a drawer out of sight not being used, this is a waste of very precious money. My jewelry collection allows me to make the exact same top and bottom completely different every time because I will wear a different sparkly accessory.

My costume jewelry collection allows me to express myself. Whatever mood I'm in or whatever color I want to accent in my outfit, a have fun searching my stash for just the right bauble. I don't have a lot of clothes but having lots of jewelry choices makes me feel like I have an almost infinite wardrobe.

Do you have a favorite piece of sparkly costume jewelry that you wear during daytime?

Blue Beaded Choker

Vintage Blue beaded choker Necklace

Blue is one of my favorite colors. So many choices of blue colors in this necklace. I love the beads with the square cut facets. One of the best things about wearing vintage jewelry is that you will definitely not see anyone else wearing your identical necklace.

Water is what this necklace reminds me of. The different depths of waves and ripples in water. Simple gold button earring or tiny gold studs  to wear with this piece.

Necklace of the day 3-20-14

Green Beaded Necklace

The beads on this vintage necklace are usually the biggest size I will wear. There are a lot of different textures happening in this piece. Shiny, gold, cravings and even a suede covered bead.  I wear very simple gold filgree or openwork earrings with this necklace.

I love watching movies from the 50's and 60's to get inspiration on how to style these types of accessories.

Necklace of the Day

Vintage metal bead choker necklace
Very pretty but heavy is the first impression after putting on this necklace. It is made of small rather solid metal beads and I am always surprised by how much heft it has when I put it on. Besides weighting you down a bit it also has the nerve to be cold to the touch. This necklace was made when jewelry was made out of good solid materials. This is one of the biggest reasons I loved vintage costume jewelry, it is sturdy and well made.

Many of the vintage pieces I have are decades old and have held up so well over the years. Do not get me started on some (but not all to be fair :) of the Forever 21 jewelry that seems to break  in front of your eyes when you look at for too long. And that's while it's still in the store on the display. :)

Necklace of the Day

Green Beaded necklace
Vintage multistrand green bead choker necklace
This necklace looks amazing worn with a white shirt either a dressy button down or a casual T-Shirt. This thrifted choker has green plastic beads that are round but flat. I wish I could find more necklaces like this in ever color.

Necklace of the day 3-12-14

Vintage Avon gold rods and pearls necklace

I wore this choker with my business suit for a job fair today

This necklace is really easy to wear. Some chokers look stylish but are heavy and uncomfortable to wear. The gold rod beads and the multi soft toned pearls make this a piece that can be wore with any casual or dressy. I thrifted this a while back and usually I wear very simple pearl studs or  drop pearl or gold bead earrings.
