Have a listen to Angelique Kidjc's amazing voice. So much emotion and power. These songs bring back so many memories. It is so hard to choose a favorite song because they are all so amazing. I bought this cassette a really long time ago and recently dusted it off to listen to some old favorites.
Just have a listen to this happy sometimes haunting and sorrowful but ultimately joyful music.
Everything But The Girl- The Language of Life 1990
This is such a relaxing cassette to listen to. Driving is my favorite song. Tracey Thorns' vocalizing at the beginning of Driving just sets the cool mood. Get Back Together is another favorite track to listen to.
The band's name is in reference (I heard in an interview a loooong time ago) to a store that sold household goods named Everything But The Girl. I guess to clarify - a place where a guy can get everything for the home except a lady friend to share it with him.
Off topic, I used to past by a store that was no longer in business named We May Have it. They probably didn't have it because the building had been long abandoned. I always laughed when I read that sign.
One of my biggest gripes about the music of today is how so few of the singers have amazing strong interesting voices. In the 80s and the 90s even if I didn't like a band, I would at least have to admit the vocalist could really sing or the band could really play. This is not true today in my opinion. There are just a few singers that have quality voices in today's music industry.
Give Everything But The Girl a listen and tell me what you think.
One of the BEST bass players in music is in this band. My favorite song on this cassette is My Name is Mud. I remember watching this funny but also creepy video on MTV (way back when they played music videos).
I Love playing this Primus cassette. It's catchy and they have such a unique sound. Have a listen people and tell me what you think. Hears "mud" in your ear. Get it? LOL!
I LOVED this movie so much. Lots and lots of action. Geena Davis was amazing in this role - Smart sexy and funny. Whatever happened to her btw? Samuel L. Jackson was absolutely hilarious. If you have not seen this movie, you must look for it on Netflix.
So many favorite songs on this cassette - Keep this party bouncin' by L.a. Ganz and Mannish by Muddy Waters. The Muddy Waters song is made really special in the film by the way Samuel L. Jackson uses it.
I saw this movie in the theater years ago and still remember how much fun it was to watch. The audience really got into it.
Watch the movie and tell me what you think of the film and the soundtrack.
I tried to pick a favorite song from this cassette but I just could not. I would have LOVED to have been at this concert. The mood Pink Floyd puts me in is a very mixed bag: thoughtful, calm, comfortable but definitely not numb. I wish there was a band to compare to Pink Floyd today.
The ultimate Pink Floyd concert I would have liked to attended would be when they played 1972 in the Roman amphitheater in Pompeii. Wow that would have been thrill. David Gilmour was in his sexy "dirty haired hippy" prime at that time. LOL!
She had such an amazing sounding voice. My favorite song of the moment is Crazy. Yep that is a cassette. Yes I STILL play music on my cassette player. It works just fine and brings back happy music memories.
The other items pictured : Forever 21 mirror compact, a little stone turtle (I LOVE turtles) and a glass atomizer that I fill with water to mist my face to moisturizing my skin and a stone base clock holder that I DIYed into a display for a rhinestone piece .
