A Bracelet That Will Become A Necklace

Bracelet from Versona - green glass beads between two goldtone chains

If you have been reading my blog for a while, you know I love a bargin especially when it comes to costume jewelry.

I got this pretty bracelet for only $1.99.

Another reason I love markdown price is that I make jewelry and I know I could not make this piece for such a small amount of money. The materials alone would cost more than just two dollars.

Why am I turning a bracelet I really like into a necklace? Because the green glass beads scratched my skin when I wore it. The beads are faceted and the points are sharp.

I was so bummed. This was the first time in all my years of wearing costume jewelry that this has ever happened. This was also the first time I've had a problem with Versona jewelry.

No problem. I will turn costume jewelry "lemons" into lemonade by attaching two separate pieces of chain to either side of the bracelet after removing the clasp.

An instant "necklace" made from pieces of goldtone chain I recycled from old broken necklaces. The stones will not touch my bare skin so the scratchy problem will be solved.

Lesson learned: Try on and really feel surfaces of the piece to see if it will feel smooth and comfortable if it will be worn on bare skin.

Have you had trouble with any costume jewelry purchases lately? I want to hear your stories. Please comment below.

Thanks for reading my blogpost.

Believe You Can And You're Halfway There

Bracelet - silver tone metal rhinestones in the word "Believe" on a black elastic cord.

Love this saying on the display card of a $1.00 bracelet I got from Rue 21 today.

Believe you can and you are halfway there. This is so true. If you don't think you can do something, you won't.

Not believing in a goal will cause you to consciously or unconsciously put up obstacles to reaching that goal.

Believing is making the effort to do the hard work to move forward. Believing is pushing through rejection to get to the next step to reaching your dream.

I am glad I just happened to go into Rue 21 to browse their sale section. Who knew I would leave with a cute rhinestone bracelet and words of encouragement.

It felt good to get out of the house after the ice storm melted a bit.  I had a bit of cabin fever.

The sunlight shining on the ice covered bare branches is beautiful.

My Alias season 4 is intriguing to watch - learning geography and some vocabulary.  More on that in an upcoming post.

Take care, stay warm and be safe.

Getting Ready For The Snow

Just a day or so I was walking around the   forest area near the Cape Fear River enjoying the crisp but very comfortable cool temperature.

The water at the River was the highest I have ever seen it. This is a pic of one of the paths on the River banks where people stand to fish.

The weather people are saying we will get a little bit of snow and ice.

I will be in my house enjoying a DVD marathon of Alias seasons 3 and 4. I was very happy to have found Alias season 3 DVD set at Trade-It for $4.99.

Today I got Alias season 4 for only $5.00 (plus tax) when I took in some DVDs to trade at Edward McKay used bookstore.

I will also write a few blog posts and a Mermaid short story I have been thinking about.

Hopefully, it will not snow as bad as last year - we got two bad snow storms.

Stay warm and safe everybody!

Used Book Mini Haul

I was out and about exploring when I drove by a thrift shop I had not been browsed in a while.

Not letting the weird old stuff cleaned with cleaning liquids smell deter me, I found some book treasures. My grand total for this haul is $2.41.

Always stop and browse at the odd thrift store, you never know what you will find.

Journal for 25 cents. I could not resist this for obvious reason. My name starts with a "T" so this was meant to be. I get excited when I find the letter T in a font I like.

This will be a great reference book for when I am writing my mermaid novel. Lots of big detailed colorful pictures of sealife and underwater environments.

When I find things that are connected to the beach, ocean or mermaid art,  I always feel encouraged to continue writing my mermaid action novel, mermaid children's book and creating mermaid art.

Individuals - Portraits from the Gap Collection

I love photography books because there is so much inspiration. Whoa! I just flipped to the back of the book and found a CD!  That made the $1.08 (regular price  was $35.00) an even better deal. Cool!

This book has lots of portraits of celebrities from the 1980s, 90s and early 2000s. It's cool seeing these people in their prime. I have been facinated by how some people who are famous age gracefully and some do not.

So that's my quick used book haul. I will give more indepth reviews later.

Thank you for reading my post.

Blue Skies and Sunshine - Perfect Day For A Walk

Today was the perfect day to go walking at the Cape Fear River Trail.

I love this time of year because I know Winter is wrapping up and Spring is on the way.

This is the bottom of a kick butt hill. I take  big steps to make the hard trip up a bit quicker.

A view of the huge pond from the bridge. I wonder what is the difference between a lake and a pond? It so peaceful with the sun reflecting off the rippling water.

The Cape Fear River seen through the still in Fall mode woods on one side of the trail.

Big blue skies - I love days like this. Perfect cool but with just enough warmth to be comfortable temperature. The sun is shining bright.

The covered bridge - I love looking at the shadow play of the wooden slats on this bridge.

I take a quick break from my walk and stand at the railing to listen to the small but surprisingly loud waterfall running parallel through the forest.

The waterfall - I close my eyes and took the time to relax and clear my mind.

Today was a very short walk. I turned around at the covered bridge and made my way back. Just under two miles today  but a good workout nonetheless.

I am so blessed to be able to be in good enough health to get out of the house and walk a nature trail.  Your health and time is so precious, take the best care of it you can.

Thank You So Much For Your Support!

This tiny little blog has just gone over 3700 page views!

Thank you all so very much for stopping by and reading my posts. I am deeply honored and humbled by your support.

My blog is not fancy with all the bells and whistles of other blogs. I mostly post from my iPhone 4 because of computer issues but I don't let that stop me.

It's been fun sharing my interests and hobbies with the world. We can all learn from each other. I have met some wonderful new friends online.

My goal for my blog is to be a place of encouragement,repurpose/reuse, creativity, hope, inspiration, faith, crafts, lifestyle, beachlife, art, crafts, books, music, DIYs, jewelry, and  how to save money.

It has been a huge blessing and learning experience having this blog and I can't wait to see how it grows and changes.

Thank you!

Create The Best You

I saw this little sign in a store and the message is powerful.

For many years, I waited for someone or something to give me "permission" to become a writer and an artist. If I just had that outside "validation," then I could feel completely comfortable telling everyone about how important my creativity is to my life.

Life is too short to wait to become your true self. Be courageous and be the real person you always dreamed of being right now.

Start exactly where you are. You don't need a lot money or any money at first.  Find ways to begin your true self journey by just visualizing and planning your path to your dreams and goals.

I always wanted to be an artist and a writer so I just started writing and drawing. Just do it now. You must begin to learn and to practice your skills in order to master your craft.

Through the years, I always kept a journal   of my thoughts, blessings, frustrations, book ideas, pain, wishes, art, etc. My journals were my creative outlet.

Find your creative outlet. Create a blog - it's free. Grab a piece of paper and write down your amazing idea.

You have been given your talents, interests and hobbies for a reason. The things you are interested in are important because they make you who you are.

Create the happy and fulfilled person you have always wanted to be. Go forward boldly towards your dreams and goals. Stop comparing yourself to others.

You are unique. There has never been another you in existence. Love yourself. Accept yourself.

Life is absolutely about creating the BEST you possible.

Thanks for reading my post!
